Regular Maintenance for Your LPG System
An LPG system on a car is not a fit-and-forget affair. Like every other system, it needs regular servicing to run efficiently and last a long time. Routine LPG maintenance is the cheapest way to avoid expensive repairs and to make sure your car runs just as well on gas as it does on petrol.
What an LPG Service Includes
Gas Filter Replacement
The liquid-phase filter is changed every 10,000-15,000 km. The vapor-phase filter (if your system has one) is the same. A clogged filter means less fuel reaching the injectors, weaker performance, and higher consumption.
Injector Inspection and Cleaning
LPG injectors get dirty over time. We check the flow rate, opening time, and uniformity across all injectors. If they are out of tolerance, we clean or replace them.
Reducer (Vaporizer) Inspection
The reducer converts liquid LPG into gas. We inspect the diaphragms, adjust the pressure, and check for leaks. A faulty reducer is one of the most common causes of LPG problems.
Diagnostics and Map Tuning
We connect to the LPG controller and check all the parameters. If needed, we adjust the injection maps so the car runs smoothly and economically.
Installation Check
We inspect all hoses, connections, and electrical connectors. We look for signs of wear, leaks, or loose fittings.
How Often Should You Service the LPG System
| Item | Interval | |------|----------| | Liquid-phase filter | 10,000-15,000 km | | Vapor-phase filter | 15,000-20,000 km | | Injector check | 30,000 km | | Full system inspection | Once a year | | Reducer diaphragm replacement | 50,000-80,000 km |
These are approximate intervals. If you drive a lot or mostly in the city (shorter trips, more starts), service should be done more frequently.
What Happens When Service Is Neglected
We see this regularly:
- Clogged filters lead to a lean mixture, juddering, and power loss. The car uses more fuel because the ECU tries to compensate.
- Dirty injectors cause uneven running, juddering, and increased consumption. If neglected for too long, the injectors become permanently damaged and must be replaced.
- A worn reducer leaks, vaporizes gas poorly, and creates pressure problems. Repairing a reducer costs several times more than a routine service.
- Poorly tuned maps mean the engine runs on the wrong mixture, which wastes fuel and can damage the catalytic converter.
A routine LPG service costs very little and saves a lot.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an LPG service cost?
A standard service (filters, inspection, tuning) is affordable. The exact price depends on the system type and what is needed. Call us for details.
Can I come without an appointment?
You can, but we recommend calling ahead. An LPG service takes about an hour and it is easier if we know you are coming.
I have noticed the car uses more gas. Will a service help?
In most cases, yes. Clogged filters and poorly tuned maps are the most common cause of increased consumption. A service usually brings consumption back to normal.
Can I change the filter myself?
Technically you can, but without diagnostics and map adjustment after the swap, you will not get the full benefit. The filter is just one part of the service.
Time for a Service?
If you have driven more than 15,000 km since the last LPG service or you have noticed any change in how the car runs on gas, get in touch. A quick inspection can prevent a more expensive repair. Call or send a message and we will arrange a time.
