Injectors on 1.9 TDI and 1.6 TDI engines
Rough idle, black smoke under acceleration, hard cold starts, increased fuel consumption.
Uzrok /SEAT Leon 1P with the 1.9 TDI (BXE/BLS) and Leon 5F and Ibiza 6J with the 1.6 TDI (CAYC/CLHA) use the same engines as the VW Golf and Skoda Octavia. Injectors are sensitive to fuel quality and need overhaul or replacement between 130,000 and 160,000 km.
Popravka /We run diagnostics and a return-flow test per cylinder. If only one injector is bad, an overhaul is cost-effective. Parts are the same as for the Golf or Octavia - affordable and readily available.

Uzrok /SEAT with a TDI engine shares its DPF system with the rest of the VW group. City driving and short trips prevent regeneration. The problem is especially pronounced on the 1.6 TDI which is less powerful and struggles to reach normal regeneration temperatures in city traffic.
Popravka /A forced regeneration with diagnostic equipment is the first step. If the filter is severely clogged we clean or replace it. The advice is the same as for the Golf - drive on the open road for at least 20 minutes once a week.

Popravka /We replace the complete timing chain with guides and tensioner. We do this job regularly because we service the same engines on Golf and Polo models. After replacement, shorter oil change intervals are mandatory.

On TDI engines change oil every 10,000 km. Same engines, same rules as on Volkswagen.

If you have a SEAT with a 1.2 TSI or 1.4 TSI, listen for noise on cold start. A rattle means the timing chain is stretched and needs inspection.

The DSG gearbox needs an oil change every 60,000 km. Extended intervals lead to juddering and expensive mechatronic repairs.

- Yes. Auto Gas Gaga regularly works on SEAT vehicles - Leon 1P and 5F, Ibiza 6J and 6F, Toledo, Altea and Arona. SEAT shares its technology with VW and Skoda, so for us the service is exactly the same. The workshop is at Njegoseva 44.
- Q /Which SEAT engine do you repair most often?
- The most common are the 1.6 TDI and 1.9 TDI diesel, and the 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI petrol. These are all VW group engines that we service daily on Golf, Polo and Octavia.
- Q /Are SEAT parts affordable?
- Parts for SEAT are affordable because they are shared with VW and Skoda. Injectors, filters, pulleys, shock absorbers - everything is the same as for the Golf or Polo. The aftermarket selection is broad.
- Q /My SEAT Leon judders when moving off - what could it be?
- Most likely a DSG gearbox issue - an oil change and adaptation are needed. If the Leon has a manual gearbox, we check the dual-mass flywheel and clutch.
- Q /Can you fit LPG on a SEAT Ibiza?
- Yes. SEAT Ibiza with a petrol engine is a good LPG conversion candidate. Installation, homologation and regular LPG system service are all done at our workshop. The same procedure as for the VW Polo because the engine is identical.
- Q /SEAT diagnostics price
- Computer diagnostics typically take 20 to 40 minutes. We use the same equipment and protocols as for the VW group. Afterwards we explain the fault and give a clear repair quote.
