DPF filter and FAP additive on the 1.6 HDI
DPF light flashing, loss of power, car in limp mode, oil level rising above maximum.
Uzrok /On the 1.6 HDI (DV6) the DPF clogs quickly if the car is driven only in town. Peugeot also uses a FAP additive that can run out without the owner knowing. Failed regenerations dilute the engine oil with fuel - and that is a serious risk for the bearings.
Popravka /We diagnose DPF state and check the additive level. As needed we force a regeneration, clean the filter or top up the FAP additive. If the oil is fuel-diluted we change the oil immediately before anything else.

Popravka /An experienced mechanic can replace just the actuator instead of the whole turbo if the fault is caught early. If the bearing is already damaged, it is rebuild or replace. At the same time we clean the oil feed lines and recommend shorter service intervals.

If you own a 1.6 HDI and do only short city trips, reconsider the driving style or even move to a petrol engine. DPF and FAP systems do not love the city.
- 02 /
Check the oil level on a 1.6 HDI at least every two weeks. If it rises above maximum, fuel has diluted the oil - immediate oil change is required to protect the bearings.
- 03 /
Always replace the timing belt and water pump together as a kit - not one by one. The labour is almost the same and the savings are huge.

Once a month take a diesel on an open road for at least 30 minutes at 2500-3000 rpm. It helps the DPF regenerate and cleans the EGR system.

When buying a used 307 or 308, always check the area under the passenger seat. If it is damp, the BSI module is on its last legs.

The electronic parking brake on the 308 requires diagnostic tool even for a basic brake pad change. Do not let anyone do that job without one.
