Uzrok /On older 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 VVT-i engines the fine mesh filter in the VVT-i control valve clogs with oil sludge. Using lower grade oil and stretched oil change intervals are the main cause. The engine needs clean oil pressure for the VVT-i system to react on time.
Popravka /Removing and cleaning the VVT-i (OCV) valve, or replacement where needed. Fresh oil and filter using the grade Toyota specifies. After the service the engine goes back to normal and the light clears.
